Commercial trucks and trailers need a closer look
Commercial vehicles are not registered quite like a family car. According to the California DMV, commercial vehicles pay weight fees in addition to regular registration fees, based on the vehicle's weight and, for some trucks, a declared gross vehicle weight: the empty weight plus the heaviest load it will carry. Trailers are generally registered under the Permanent Trailer Identification (PTI) program, with park trailers and trailer coaches registered annually instead.
Those details change from one vehicle to the next, and a wrong weight or missing declaration is a common reason paperwork comes back. We'll confirm what each vehicle needs before anything is submitted. For the rules themselves, see the DMV's commercial vehicle registration page.

Fleet account questions
Do you work with businesses that have only a few vehicles?
Yes. A contractor with three trucks and a trailer has the same paperwork problems as a larger fleet, just fewer of them. If your business owns vehicles, call and we'll talk through what you have.
Can you keep track of when our vehicles are due for renewal?
Ask about renewal tracking when you set up your account. We'll go over your vehicle list with you and talk through how to keep upcoming renewals from slipping past.
Can you come to our yard for VIN verifications?
Yes. We offer mobile VIN verification, so a vehicle last registered in another state can be verified where it is parked instead of being driven to an office. See VIN verification for details.
