Accounts are quoted for your business. DMV fees are separate. Open seven days a week, with weekday evenings until 9pm; walk-ins and appointments welcome.
PricingWhen paperwork stalls, the job does too.
A contractor’s trucks and trailers earn money only when they are moving. The DMV side of the business rarely fits the work schedule.
A truck off the road
A pickup or dump truck waiting on a rejected transaction, an expired registration or a missing title is a crew without a ride.
Staff hours lost at the DMV
Every hour an office manager or foreman spends in a field-office line is an hour not spent estimating, scheduling or on site.
Renewals spread across units
Pickups, vans, flatbeds and trailers each renew on their own date, so something is always coming due and easy to miss.
Out-of-state units
Trucks and equipment bought from another state usually need a VIN verification before they can be registered in California.
Trailers that need PTI plates
Equipment, dump and utility trailers have their own paperwork, and getting it wrong sends the whole transaction back.
What we handle for contractors.
We are a private business contracted through the California DMV Business Partner Automation program, so much of this work is processed at our Citrus Heights counter.
Registration renewals and tracking
Current or expired, for the whole fleet instead of one trip per unit. Ask about renewal-date tracking and account billing. About renewals
Titling new trucks and trailers
Newly bought or financed work trucks, trailers and equipment titled and registered in your company name.
Out-of-state transfers
Bringing a truck or trailer into California: $80 service fee + DMV fees. About out-of-state registration
PTI trailers
Permanent Trailer Identification paperwork and plates for equipment, dump and utility trailers.
Commercial registration paperwork
The extra forms commercial vehicles can need, prepared so each unit is registered the way it is actually used.
Mobile VIN verification
At the yard or on the job site: $60 service fee for an auto, $80 for a commercial vehicle, plus DMV fees, with travel quoted before we go. About VIN verification
Pick-up and drop-off
We collect paperwork, or vehicles, and bring them back when the work is done. About pick-up and drop-off
DMV take-in service
We act as your power of attorney at the DMV so nobody on your team stands in line: $225 service fee + DMV fees.
Temporary operating permits
Ask whether a moving permit lets a unit be driven legally while its registration or transfer is completed.
How a contractor account works.
Accounts are set up around how your company runs, in four steps.
- 01
Tell us what you run
Call (916) 595-8128 or request a fleet account below. Tell us about your trucks, vans, trailers and equipment, and anything unusual such as out-of-state units or lost titles.
- 02
We go over your vehicles
We review what is coming due, what needs titling and what needs a VIN verification, and quote it before any work starts.
- 03
Bring or send the first batch
Drop paperwork off at 6381 Auburn Blvd, Ste A, Citrus Heights, or ask us to pick it up, or to come to the yard for VIN verification.
- 04
We file it right, then keep you current
Your units are filed and returned. Ask about renewal-date tracking and account billing so the next round does not catch you off guard.
✓ Done
A rejected transaction is a parked truck.
Done right the first time
When commercial paperwork comes back with an error, the unit can sit while it is fixed, and so can the crew that drives it. Our work is audited weekly and held to a strict accuracy standard, so your paperwork is done right the first time.
Registration Leaders is a private business, not the DMV. Our service fee is added to DMV fees, and sales tax is collected on our service fees. DMV fees vary by vehicle and are paid in addition to our service fee. See the pricing page.

Contractor questions.
Our truck cannot go back to work until the paperwork is done. How do you help?
We check every document before anything is filed, so the transaction is less likely to come back rejected and leave a truck parked. Where a vehicle needs to be driven while its registration or transfer is being completed, ask about a temporary operating permit; not every situation qualifies, so tell us about the vehicle and we will confirm. Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome, and we suggest calling (916) 595-8128 first so we can tell you exactly what to bring. For busy owners we also offer pick-up and drop-off, and a DMV take-in service ($225 service fee + DMV fees) where we act as your power of attorney at the DMV.
Do you handle trailers and Permanent Trailer Identification (PTI) plates?
Yes. Equipment trailers, dump trailers and utility trailers are generally registered under the DMV’s Permanent Trailer Identification (PTI) program, and we prepare that paperwork along with the title or transfer when a trailer is new to you. Bring the title or bill of sale and the VIN for each trailer, and tell us if it was last registered in another state. A trailer from out of state usually needs a VIN verification first, which we can do at your yard. Our service fees are on the pricing page, and DMV fees are paid in addition.
Can you verify the VINs of our trucks at the yard or on a job site?
Yes. Mobile VIN verification means we come to the yard or the job site, so a truck does not have to leave work to be inspected. The service fee is $60 for an auto and $80 for a commercial vehicle, plus DMV fees, and any travel is quoted before we go. You can line up several units for one visit, which is the easiest way to clear a batch of out-of-state purchases. See VIN verification for what the inspection covers.
We bought a truck from out of state. What does the transfer involve?
Moving a vehicle from another state into California is an out-of-state transfer, and our service fee is $80 plus DMV fees. These usually need a VIN verification, and commercial trucks can also carry weight fees, so we confirm what the unit needs before submitting anything. Bring the other state’s title or registration, the bill of sale if you just bought it, and the VIN. See out-of-state registration for the full walk-through.
Can you track renewal dates and bill our company on an account?
Ask about renewal-date tracking and account billing when you set up your account. We go over your vehicle list with you, talk through how to keep upcoming renewals from slipping past across a mixed fleet, and agree on billing that fits how your office pays. Accounts are quoted for your business and we quote before any work, with DMV fees paid in addition to our service fee. Sales tax is collected on our service fees. Call (916) 595-8128 or use the request form on this page.
What are your hours, and is there an extra fee for evenings or weekends?
We are open Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm, Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, so a crew can send someone after the workday. Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome, and we recommend calling first. A $15 convenience fee applies to any weekend service and any weekday service after 5pm. Sales tax is collected on service fees, and DMV fees are separate and vary by vehicle.
Request a fleet account.
Tell us about your trucks, vans and trailers and what you need. We reply by call, text or email, whichever you prefer, and we quote before any work. Walk-ins and appointments are always welcome too.
Keep the trucks working.
Tell us about your fleet and we quote before any work. Walk-ins and appointments welcome, Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm, Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm. Call first.
