The DMV's Carmichael field office
It is at 5209 North Ave. The DMV lists weekday hours, 8am to 5pm (9am on Wednesdays), and closed weekends. It also handles licenses and testing, so for a driver's license or a written test, that is where you need to go.
An appointment at Registration Leaders
We handle vehicle paperwork only: title transfers, registration renewals, salvage titles and dealer transactions. Appointments run Monday to Saturday, 10am to 9pm, so your time is set before you leave home. Our service fee is added to DMV fees.
Selling a car you have owned for years
In a long-established community like Carmichael, it is common to sell a car you have owned for a decade or more. When that day comes, three things matter:
- Smog. The DMV expects a seller to give the buyer a valid smog certification, unless the car is less than four years old.
- Release of liability. Submit a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability within 5 days, so later parking tickets or tolls are not tied to you.
- The title itself. An older title may still show a lender that was paid off long ago, or an address you left years back. Bring any lien release you have, and we will tell you what else the transfer needs.

The drive from Carmichael
From most of Carmichael, Manzanita Avenue is the simplest route. Head north on Manzanita until it meets Auburn Blvd, then follow Auburn Blvd to our office at 6381, Suite A, in the shopping area near Walmart, Costco and Sam's Club. From around Fair Oaks Blvd and Marconi Ave, it is usually about 10 to 15 minutes. If you are closer to I-80, you can also take the freeway east to the Greenback Lane exit.
